peacoat under my arm
i fight against the afternoon
stare, menacingly at the sunset
challenging it
and my own circadian rhythm
which feels ejected, like that pilot this week
kept up too late with holiday spirit
(holiday spirits?)
i glare and i urge
for the day to stay daytime
or the night to come swiftly
and free me from the confusion.
my skin, my mind, my body
maladjusted, in need of coffee
for its warmth, familiarity
and fringe benefit: alertness
just tell me what time it is.
